I'm one of the co founders of NZDDA and have been involved in the implementation and development of drug and alcohol testing policies throughout New Zealand workplaces, covering a wide and varied selection of industry types from small companies to large corporate clients. I have a wealth of knowledge in the drug and alcohol testing industry and have built some very strong and lasting relationships with key stakeholders in various industries. I aim to ensure that NZDDA keeps abreast of technology in both testing and new designer drugs, to ensure that New Zealand workplaces are kept safe from employees who may be at risk of being impaired by drugs or alcohol in their workplace.
Prior to starting NZDDA I was in the NZ Police for 10 years and served part of that time as a member of North Shores Team Policing Unit dealing with drug search warrants and protesters at major events. I later qualified as a Detective working on Auckland's North Shore and eventually joined Auckland's Drug Squad, I was involved in a number of operations involved in the investigation of national and international drug dealing syndicates and targeting New Zealand organised crime.
I believe NZDDA provide a service second to none and this is because of the team I have standing beside me that share the same vision. I am very proud of NZDDA and the fantastic team of people that we have representing the company throughout New Zealand.
My interests are wakeboarding, snowboarding, camping and getting out on the Harley when I get time, I also still play the odd game of Rugby when the body feels up to it for East Coast Bays over 35's, but more so now watching Rugby and supporting my kids who play sport, two of my children are North Harbour Sport Representatives for Hockey and Touch Rugby so goes without saying I am a Harbour Rugby supporter.

I joined NZDDA in April 2006 and have seen the company grow from a two man band to the organisation that it is today. From its inception NZDDA has had to make pioneering inroads into the world of on-site drug and alcohol testing, there has been nothing to benchmark against and we have ended up at a point where I believe that we have a great company and a strong reputation as a good company to do business with. Our support systems are strong and our team is continually looking to improve on what we do.
I too have come from a background in Policing over 12 years Prior and served part of that time as a Detective on Auckland Drug Squad dealing with the burgeoning drug scene. Parts of the job was investigating major drug dealing networks.
Wayne Duley - National Programme Manager
Wayne Duley joined the New Zealand Drug Detection Agency in July 2009 after spending 26 years in the Royal New Zealand Navy, of which 16 was in the Naval Police. During this time the New Zealand Defence Force introduced drug testing for all uniformed personnel and Wayne was instrumental in is introduction and educational presentations.
Wayne spent 3 years in the Special Investigation Branch and later 3 years as Officer In Charge of the Naval Police. After this appointment he undertook a review of the training standards and material for the Naval Police courses and spent the next two years undertaking the training and development requirements to create the training material for all Naval Police training and RNZN Discipline modules resulting in the material delivery to personnel of all ranks.
On leaving the Navy, Wayne has been employed with the Aviation Security Service as a trainer and later as the National Investigator with the Loss Prevention Team of Dick Smith Electronics, a role that required him to conduct training presentations to all staff from senior management to new employees.
In between leaving Dick Smith Electronics and joining the team at NZDDA, Wayne was the National Security Manager with Chubb New Zealand in the Cash In Transit Division again a role that required him to deliver training and educational presentations to senior management and security guards alike. He is the first person to attain Level 3 for Testing Technician.
I came to NZDDA after a significant career in the commercial investigation industry, predominantly fishing industry based. In 2005 he became involved in work place drug testing, in conjunction with the investigation portfolio. My experience with work place testing has involved work with the New Zealand division of a major Australasian transport and logistics company, along with several civil contracting companies.
Prior to the above I spent thirteen years in the NZ Police, in the main at Auckland Central, from where I left at the rank of Detective Sergeant. During my CIB career I spent several years attached to the Criminal Intelligence Section, VIP Protection and Car Squad.
I believe I bring to NZDDA, a broad understanding of Drug and Alcohol testing solutions together with a wide range of contacts and business relationships.I am based at the National Support Office and my focus is on developing national clients while looking after the needs and interests of all NZDDA licensees and stakeholders.
I am a Westlake Boys High School “old-boy” and outside of work my interests and passions are my family, fishing, tennis and Harbour Rugby.
