Karl Hardy - General Manager

I'm one of the co founders of NZDDA and have been involved with the growth and development of NZDDA as a member of the board and was chairman for a number of those years; I have also had experience in managing companies from humble beginnings and turning them into successful business.

Unlike most of the team in NZDDA with the police expertises, my background was with the corrections department, where I was a member of the BMR (Behaviour management regime) in D block and ERU (emergency response unit).

During my time there I witnessed the full extent of the effect of drugs upon our society and how it can bring out the most terrible aspects in individuals and their actions, being a father and grandfather I also understand the perils bringing up a young family with the constant peer pressure and outside influences in regards to drugs and alcohol.   

I still play or attempt to play rugby for East Coast Bays (C-Niles), ex league at heart, with sports playing a huge role within our family.

I feel it a privilege and honour to be part of this team, being able to provide the tools necessary to help employers, employees, families and society in dealing with the issues around alcohol and drugs.
