I have worked extensively in safety sensitive areas alongside Health and Safety Managers who are aware of the obligation to identify and manage risk throughout the organisation.
I have first-hand knowledge of the impact of workplace testing and have seen how companies have been able to effectively allocate and use our services to improve operational effectiveness and efficiency and enhance health and safety performance. These companies have improved their records with regards to loss prevention and incident management.
I have also worked in the energy sector in safety sensitive roles working closely with Health and Safety managers. I have a broad understanding of the negative effect substance abuse has, not only on the work place, but within our society. I am able to draw on this experience to make presentations to staff and managers assessable and realistic. There is no cotton wool applied in our presentations, just facts which empower staff to make informed choices and allows managers to confidently administer their companies’ policy while achieving a drug and alcohol free workplace.
One the keys to our success in Wellington has been relationship building and on-going support for workplaces which have adopted a drug and alcohol policy. The ability for companies to call our Wellington office and have a member of my staff on site within the hour has meant that managers never feel on their own when faced with a situation where drugs or alcohol misuse is suspected.
