The New Zealand Drug Detection Agency Limited (NZDDA) is a company that prides itself on delivering quality services with integrity and attention to detail in meeting our clients' many and varied needs. The following client feedback are testament to the success of NZDDAs commitment to these principles;

                             Group Projects

At Fulton Hogan Group Projects we build and construct a diverse range of construction entities ranging from tunnelling, roading, bridge construction, bulk earthworks, MSE Walls, concrete construction, environmental works, temporary traffic management etc. Because of this we work in all areas of significant harm and employ many people from diverse cultural, ethnic, educational, technical and social backgrounds. One of our biggest challenges is the timely provision of large numbers of short term or transitory employees, and the  managing of people’s behaviour and the determination of whether these people are fit for duty to carry out often highly dangerous and technical tasks.

NZDDA due to their professional attitude and highly mobile operations provide Group Projects with an ideal solution to manage the risk of impairment in the workplace due to drug and alcohol use. To be able to access by a simple phone call the flexibility of a 24/7  go any where and at any time service with people who possess understanding, knowledgeable, empathy and a streetwise assessment of people’s behaviour really relieves our management team of the duress of what is a crucial part of our employee employment process. This  allows for  Fulton Hogan to establish a sound base on which to strive for Zero Harm in our workplace.

Complimenting the identification of Workplace Impairment our management staff and team leaders have been able to boost their understanding and identification of drugs use and it’s affects in the workplace by attending well run educational and training courses as offered by NZDDA – the informative sessions give a truly balanced perspective to what is quite a contentious issue in our industry and society in general.

At Foodstuffs Cold Storage Facility we have a staff of in excess 180 working 24/7 at any time.  Our core business is supplying goods to the Foodstuffs chain of supermarkets as per their orders. Staff work with Hand pallet trucks, Powered pallet trucks, Battery powered forklifts, Rider reach truck forklifts, Stock-picker and LP gas fork-lifts in relatively confirmed areas. The pallets loads can be extremely heavy [600 to 1000 kg] and stacked to a height of 1.5 leaving little room for error. Due to the readily availability of drugs within the community we have a strict “NO DRUGS IN THE BODY SYSTEM” policy and call NZDDA to help us in maintaining this Drug Free Work Place.

The assistance and guidance that we receive from NZDDA is always professional and delivered in a manner readily understood. Any testing requested is carried out in a timely and confidential manner permitting us take action as deemed fit. Through the help of NZDDA we have been able to source the correct avenues to assist personnel with drug related problems. NZDDA has been very instrumental in guiding us to provide a safe “Drug Free” working environment for our employees.

Thank you, NZDDA

Skellerup’s connection with NZDDA started in early 2008 and has developed from strength to strength over the last 18 months.

Like a number of companies we had a dated Drug and Alcohol Policy and the framework for a new policy but no preferred supplier for the administration of this. Through necessity we required the services of an agency to carry out a test on an employee and after reviewing a few options I contacted NZDDA’s main office in Auckland. The service and assistance at the time was brilliant and it enabled us to confidently deal with the scenario facing us.

One of the great things that set NZDDA apart is the mobile units and geographical coverage that they provide. Timeliness is an important factor when dealing with a drug and alcohol situation that arises and the call-out times are brilliant. Most calls are for routine assistance like pre-employment screening however, there has been the occasional call that has been a little more ‘interesting’ and the additional knowledge and expertise is welcomed.

As a result Skellerup has formed a great partnership with NZDDA and have utilised their skill, knowledge and professional approach to what is an emotive responsibility under the Health and Safety in Employment Act. We have gone through an extensive re-write of a new policy which was ultimately linked with seminars to managers and employees throughout the country and Melbourne. We have found that the new policy was accepted more readily within the various companies due to the standard and consistency of the training and clear explanation around drug impairment that was provided.

I have had no hesitation and would continue to recommend NZDDA to any company that wanted assuredness around the drug and alcohol testing, policy development and training that ensured compliance with legislation and case law.

As a company who prides itself on having very high standards of professionalism and strict adherence to Health & Safety Legislation, we have been extremely impressed with the same levels of professionalism and high service standards provided to us by the team at NZDDA.

Bullet Freight Systems Ltd made the decision to conduct pre-employment and then on- going random drug and alcohol testing for all our drivers and storeman working in safety-sensitive area. Right from the start, the team at NZDDA have worked with us to design, develop and implement a programme which has not only well and truly met our needs but exceeded our expectations in terms of its ready acceptance by our staff members throughout the organisation. We believe that, because we include the pre-employment checks in our Job Vacancy Advertisements, we have only had good, drug-free drivers and storeman apply for positions with the company and this has assisted us to eliminate from possible employment those drivers and storeman who may not have the same attitude towards drugs in the workplace as we do. In addition, our staff are happier in the knowledge that their workmates are also drug-free and it promotes higher levels of adherence and respect for the company's Health and Safety Programme.

We would not hesitate in recommending the services of the NZDDA to any employer who wishes to introduce an extremely effective programme into their workplace

I am writing to express my thanks to NZDDA for an extremely informative and enjoyable course this morning, covering aspects of drug and alcohol management and the somewhat special circumstances and often sensitive issues that surround the subject. The workshop and role play added to the effectiveness of this course.

I found the course well presented by very knowledgeable tutors. This is a short course I would wholeheartedly recommend not just managers and supervisors attend, but also foremen, team leaders and even safety reps, due to the information offered

Thank you and I look forward to an excellent and continued relationship with NZDDA and Rogers Civil

TBS Group has been associated with [NZDDA] since November 2007 when Rod and Kirk were approached to support us in the review and upgrade of our Company Drug and Alcohol Policy. I was fortunate enough to find their business listed on the internet, while researching for information on the latest compliance standards, trends and legislation on the topic in New Zealand. I only wish I had found them sooner as they had all of this information, and in particular the latest developments from the courts on this sensitive subject.

Since that time I have liaised on a weekly basis with the team here in Auckland on the content of our policy, framework for the process and the support and delivery of our Drug and Alcohol Education program. This was delivered throughout New Zealand to over three hundred employees in March and April this year with the support of Rod, Kirk and the team from Bay of Plenty, Taranaki and Whangarei. The feedback from our employees has all been positive. The Drug and Alcohol education was professional, knowledgeable and was pitched at a level that can be understood and accepted throughout the business, hence the buy-in from our employees.

Since 1 June we have gone 'live' in delivering our program and as expected, despite earlier consultation with all stake holders we have met some resistance from some quarters. Both Rod and Kirk are always prepared to attend on these occasions and support us in providing technical support for our managers at these meetings occasionally with minimal warning.

Onsite Drug and Alcohol testing is provided with the upmost professionalism and the facilities are scrupulously clean on arrival. One brief phone-call and the 'the boys' take care of all our drug and alcohol testing needs. The ongoing level of support and service from the whole NZDDA team is second to none.

Please feel free to contact me should you require any further information.

When Transpacific Industries NZ Ltd started considering the implementation of its drug free workplace policies and procedures during 2007 we needed the assistance from an organisation who could provide support and advice on all aspects of our programme. NZDDA was selected after meeting with Kirk Hardy & Rod Dale to discuss our needs.

During the ensuing months Rod & Kirk from NZDDA accompanied us around the country as we delivered presentations to our staff on the proposed implementation of our drug screening programme. The knowledge NZDDA have on availability, use, symptoms and results of drug use, from casual recreational use, to frequent habitual use meant that any question posed by employees was able to be answered with authority.

NZDDA management & staff's ability to deal with this somewhat contraversial issue with all levels of employees across our organisation has resulted in our staff having an understanding of why and how we intended to introduce this programme.

NZDDA's willingness to assist and promote a programme that includes all aspects of a fully integrated drug screening system including education, rehabilitation and the actual drug screening process has resulted in what we believe is a programme that will deliver improved productivity, morale and safety across our organisation.

I would recommend NZDDA as a organisation that will add value to any company looking to implement a programme of drug screening and drug education.

I have had the pleasure of the company of Kirk Hardy, The New Zealand Drug Detection Agency, at a Management Training Seminar in Henderson on 19 & 20 September 2007.

During the course Kirk talked about the problems within the work place with drugs and alcohol and how it can affect work practices for the person concerned and anyone in close proximity.

As managers it is very important for us to know what to look for in terms of having an employee who could be potentially impaired by drugs or alcohol, and know how to appropriately deal with the given situation.

With the training Kirk has undertaken with Wattyl (NZ) Ltd, it has helped to equip our managers with essential skills and knowledge regarding the potential dangers of drugs in the workplace.

We all got to see a range of drugs, enclosed in sealed cases, what they look like and what to look for.

All participants thoroughly enjoyed the training conducted by Kirk and we look forward to continuing the training for all our staff at all sites where possible.

I would highly recommend NZDDA to any Company or Organisation that wishes to learn how to identify and manage potential hazards in the workplace, and to undertake the Advanced Drug Awareness Training Workshop.

Combining Kirk’s facilitation skills with his knowledge of the ‘industry’ and passion for making those outside the ‘industry’ aware; left the management team at Wattyl NZ Limited in no doubt of the need to initiate the introduction of a drug and alcohol policy. I have no hesitation in recommending the New Zealand Drug Detection Agency, as with their capability of meeting our needs nationally they are customer focussed and professional.

TR Group Limited is New Zealand's leading provider of road transport trucks and trailers for both short and long term contracts. Our fleet consists of approximately 1300 trailers and 1200 trucks.

As an employer within the transport industry we are acutely aware of our obligation to provide a safe environment for our team and our customers. We have a zero tolerance toward the use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.

All of our team who are involved in safety sensitive positions partake in a monthly random sample testing programme.

After extensive research TR Group selected NZDDA as its testing provider. We have found Rod and Kirk to be professional, thorough and most importantly personable. The manner that they have conducted themselves with the selected person for testing has resulted in NZDDA being regarded as part of the team rather than an imposition or threat.

I would highly recommend NZDDA to any potential party seeking an outsourcing solution to complement their Health and Safety programme.
