This will be the follow up testing that NZDDA will do at a property as part of the property manager’s/landlord’s inspection. It should only be done if pre occupancy testing was done prior to tenancy other wise it is hard to attribute the contamination to the current tenants unless there is other evidence pin pointing them as the cause of the contamination.
The property inspection testing will identify if the property has been used illegally to consume or manufacture methamphetamine since the pre occupancy test or since the last property inspection test.
The testing will be carried out on those areas identified as being clean during the pre occupancy testing. The tests will initially establish if there is any methamphetamine contamination present.
If there is methamphetamine detected during the testing then it is recommended that further testing be done to establish the level of that contamination.
At the completion of the testing the landlord or property manager will be advised of the results immediately and will receive a report outlining the following: Areas tested, results, photographs and any recommendations with respect to having the property cleaned or the likely cause of the contamination.
